About Us

Gujarati Samaj of Sacramento (GSS) was founded in 1979 by a group of Gujarati families. GSS was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November 1981. Since then, many leaders have uplifted the Samaj by various activities and generations have been benefited with keeping traditions and culture alive. I truly believe a leader can bring the community together with all of your support and help. We are hoping that our future leaders will carry the values for many generations to come. Having strong support from family and friends is crucial for such a position and I am looking forward to hearing every voice to make our community a place where all three generations come together.  Let’s walk, move, think and resolve together and keep our culture and traditions.

President’s Message

I would like to introduce myself as the new Gujrati Samaj of Sacramento president. My name is Daksha Shah and our family has been part of samaj since 2000 when we moved from the Bay Area. I truly believe a leader can bring the community together not only for our current members but allow others to be part of our community under our vision, mission and guidelines. I will try my best to be that leader with all of your support and help and hoping that our future leaders will carry the values for many generations. I have been in most of the roles with GSS, as a member, choreographer, setting traditions, coordinating, executing Diwali shows, benefactor committee member and now have the honor to be the president. Having strong support from family and friends is crucial for such a position and I am looking forward to hearing every voice to make our community a place where all three generations come together. Let’s walk, move, think and resolve together and keep our culture and traditions.

Welcome to Gujarati Samaj of Sacramento. I am lucky and blessed to have been one of the founding members and a President of the Samaj four times.

 

From inception to now, the Samaj has grown from a few families to many. I have worked with many wonderful youth and seniors over the years to elevate the Samaj and perform many activities such as kathas, nataks, picnics, diwali shows, bus tours and many more. I am blessed to have served the Samaj. I look to a day when we can all pray in our Samaj temple and have activities in the Samaj hall… Thank You, Muljibhai Patel
